Preparing for Launch!

Community development activities abound in Argyle, Carling, Westmount and White Oaks as cups of coffee are giving way to concrete plans for the Family Centres in these neighbourhoods. Community events and outreach to local families are shaping the way that these centres will function so that they reflect the unique strengths of each neighbourhood. Over the coming months the focus will shift to developing the vision for each neighbourhood as well as a service plan that sets out the contributions of all of the community partners. With concrete plans in place, these neighbourhoods will begin to make the vision a reality later this fall!

At the broader system level, community partners are continuing to sort out the details for how the entire system will function to best serve London’s families. Although many details are already pinned down, work is continuing on the funding & sustainability plans as well as the governance structure for the network of Family Centres. With meetings scheduled for the fall, community partners continue to come together to solve some of the unique challenges associated with the creation of a more integrated, neighbourhood based system of serving families.

Behind the scenes work is also continuing on the Interprofessional Community of Practice suite of tools. Platinum Leadership is working with London System Reengineering members to develop pre-learning tools that will help contextualize and explain how the Interprofessional Community of Practice is intended to function within the Family Centres. Communications and marketing products are also under development and will be unveiled to the community later this fall. Finally, discussions between the City of London and the school boards are progressing towards plans for the capital builds associated with the new Family Centres. On all fronts, plans are coming together that bring us closer to the launch of London’s first 4 Family Centres.
